Good Things: Making Healthy Snacking Feel Like Fun
Good Things Corn Balls are snacks for kids that parents can actually feel good about buying. Each puff is made with corn, rice, and Lion's Mane—a mushroom known for supporting brain health and cognitive function. The range comes in three flavours across an 80g pack: Cheesey Boom, Buttery Burst, and Spicy Blast.

The Challenge
Functional products tend to look like functional products: boring, clinical, and covered in benefit claims. They prioritize health credentials while squeezing out the fun, resulting in products that don't strongly appeal to either kids or parents.
There was a second challenge specific to this product: mushrooms. Putting a mushroom on a kids' snack pack and expecting an enthusiastic reaction is optimistic. Lion's Mane had to be present—it's the core ingredient and the reason the product exists—but it couldn't lead the conversation.

The Idea
The solution came from a simple piece of wordplay.
A corn ball is, if you think about it, a cannonball. That became the foundation for the entire concept. The cannon—which represents the corn—fires happy balls made up of all three ingredients. The flavour names, Cheesey Boom, Buttery Burst, and Spicy Blast, become the different ammunition.
The illustration system and flavour names were built from the same idea, creating a cohesive world that feels playful, memorable, and distinctly ownable.

Design
The front of the pack belongs to the cannon—a corn cannon mid-fire, launching smiley-faced puffs across a bold colour field. Flavour colours follow category conventions for immediate recognition: orange for Cheesey Boom, blue for Buttery Burst, and red for Spicy Blast. The mushroom is kept off the main illustration entirely, avoiding any preconceived associations with taste.
The lower half of each pack shifts to cream—quieter, cleaner, and a deliberate nod to the wellness category. It signals to parents that there's something more considered inside, and it's where they do their reading. The subheading, "Made with corn, rice, and Lion's Mane," sits directly above each flavour name, giving parents the ingredient truth at a glance without interrupting the kids-first experience above it. Parents find it. Kids never need to.
The three packs are designed to block together on shelf. The bold colour fields make each SKU instantly distinct, while the cream base and shared typography hold them together as a cohesive range.
